ROBYN FOSTER

is a visual artist based on Quandamooka Land, South East Queensland,  Australia.

Working from her Mount Cotton studio on a large bush block, nature is a constant companion and inspiration.

Artist Books have been central to Foster's practice for over a decade.

Her current practice is centred on sculptural paper forms,

with a focus on hand drawn, bright colourful imagery,

with stitching, folding, collage, printing and paper cutting being other integral components of her work.

Foster is fascinated by the ephemeral, transient nature of our existence

and the innate desire humans have to leave a mark as evidence of our existence.

Explorations are always supported by the ideas of
triumphing the genre of book/paper arts,
searching for common threads between past, present and future human endeavour
and the ramifications of human impact on our environments

Now focusing on her own arts practice, Foster was previously a long standing member of

the exhibition installation team at Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland,

an invited member of the gallery's Exhibition and Acquisitions panel (2014-2016)

and Convenor for the Redland Art Awards (2010-2012).
Foster taught extension art classes to pupils at the Australian School of the Arts - Sheldon College for over a decade

as well as holding external workshops for students of all ages in conjunction with exhibitions.

Foster created and co-ordinated the Personal Histories International Artist Book exhibitions (Redland Museum 2014, UNSW Canberra 2015) and 100Book (Redland Art Gallery 2015)
,

a series of exhibitions involving over one hundred book artists from many countries.

Foster has held solo exhibitions, participated in and co-ordinated many group exhibitions and projects,

has performed commissions for both public and private clients

and has had hands on involvement with numerous community art projects and groups over the past 20 years.

In late 2024 Foster was Artist in Residence at AIRspace Oatlands, a month long council run solo artist tenancy

in the Midlands region of Tasmania.
